I've built both a Pygmy Tern 14 (which I'd build before the Osprey 13), and a One Ocean Storm SLT (super-light touring). I think either would be OK for a child and both would allow ample growing room. The S&G Tern is fine for full-size adults, and the stripper SLT works for folks up to 130# or so. It's a sweety: very lively and quick, and a bit of a looker to boot.
