Bob,

Have a look at the Grebe a 14 footer from Squeedunk Kayaks. Offsets are free online. Many here have built it's big brother the Cormorant. A word of advice though...don't go too small. The kids outgrow the small boats fast. My youngest is 10 and he paddles my 19' Shearwater Baidarka with ease and has handled it in rough water and big winds on Lake Winnipeg safely. According to him the short boats are too slow.
