Thank you for your response. Your solution makes good sense, as the gravity problem is solved, a good chemical bond is achieved, and little extra work is involved.

Part of the reason that I have chosen to use a rolling bevel is because I knew that it is your preferred method of construction. I also wanted to work with hand tools. I am using two Veritas planes: the low angle block plane, and the apron block plane. They are very nice to use, and hold a keen edge.

I am able to use a local lumber supplier in Montana, and as a cedar specialist, they have started stocking 18' - 20' lengths of clear cedar for boat builders. So I feel that I can buy a few boards and kind of ease into the building process. Since I am not putting a cove and bead on the strips, any wood not used is easy to store for the next boat.

I am just starting the deck, and will pay closer attention to my bevels on the interior.
