This hold down system really does work well. I have them installed on four kayaks now and the hatches are held so tightly that you have to put a finger groove in the deck in order to get enough purchase on the lid to lift it. I used the garden hose to spray off the Night Heron after I had it out Sunday and even that didn't get water in through the seals. I'm sure that if I could roll my hatches would not leak.

Honestly though with your tools you can easily outfit a hatch with Moby Latches in a half an hour (plus glue dry time) and if you don't like them there is nothing stopping you from refitting any other system you choose. I went from the under deck bungie system to the Moby Latch system and there is nothing stopping me from going back if I ever chose. Believe me I will never so chose.
