: I built a Cape Ann Double in 06. I used 4 glass and 4 carbon layers. Started
: with glass and ended with 2 layers of carbon. Hardest thing for me was
: getting the carbon wetted out completely and maintaining the pattern of
: the weave. Tended to stretch and bunch around the curves.

: who've bought his plans so I won't share the tips here. I'd suggest
: emailing him and see if you can get those specific tips. Comparing his
: public and "private" tips, I don't think my coamings would've
: turned out nearly as good without the extra detail.

: building two Spring Runs now and using both building manuals.

I'd recommend his manual too, well done instructions and relatively cheap.

Btw, the carbon does more than just be pretty, it's very stiff in a layup, something that fiberglass isn't. It's just not real tough used by itself, so a combination of CF and glass is a good combination.
