Genarally speaking , it is better to put the greater strength on the inside of the boat. In your case that would be the 6 ounce glass cloth. For many designs that would be overkill--4 ounce glass would be ample. If you have not yet purchased the glass, why not get only 4 ounce fabric. If you REALLY need a heavier layer on the outside you can put on a second layer to protect against deep scratches.
