Hi Darren,

I'm building a kayak (Guillemot)using the same stock material you have. I've elected to go with single layer of that WRC, 6 oz glass inside and out, hull and deck, and additional longitudinal stringers on the inside of the hull, placed after the hull is glassed, then glassed over the top of the stringers. I suspect that a keel reinforcement would also help, and I'm thinking to run a strip of glass 'tape'about 4 inches wide the length of the keel, on the outside.

I don't know the Night Heron design. I'm designing a second kayak that I intend to build should I ever complete the first. My thoughts on the design are to trade off a little stability and make the chines quite soft, to minimise large flat areas and hence maximise shell stiffness that comes with the shape. I'm working up a design in Kayak Foundry. It has moderate stability and good drag numbers. It will also probably need one stringer each side in the hull.

Keep us posted, you will probably finish ahead of me, I work slow.
