I am pleased to once again be in the workshop! Moving had put a stop to my kayak building most of this year. I'm now living in the Fiji Islands and near to excellent paddling so I couldn't resist building again.

Some changes for me, though: I'm working mostly with a wood called Dakua, which is similar to Basswood in density and working characteristics. My workshop is primitive and I didn't bring any tools from the U.S., so am having to make due with a lot of homemade clamps and jigs. No bead and cove. I do have electricity, though :-). Importing epoxy and fiberglass, so it gets expensive.

I'm building two kayaks strongly influenced by One Ocean Kayaks' Expedition Sport hull design. I find that design to be an excellent rough water boat.
