Don't think I've ever seen it or perhaps I saw it and couldn't understand it .

General rule though is that if you want up sweeping ends you'll have to either cut the gunwales from wide stock or add extended triangles on top of the gunwale ends. The side angle (of the kayak) would have to be pretty severe to have the ends rise much to just rely on that angle to produce much of a rise in the sheer.
