In my opinion: Hemlock is not a good wood. It IS used for (cheaper) molding, but really does not machine well. I'd think planing, routing and surfacing will be more of a challenge (think tearouts, splits, etc because it is more brittle) compared to other woods.

If you were able to get very nice straight grained pieces it may be ok. This is just my opinion, your mileage may vary.
