I am building guillemot large and am putting in an internal stem. it seems to me that with the stem curveing around end form that the top portion is in the area of the deck and if the deck strips are glued to it that the form can be removed. The plans seem to show the sheer strip to be about 3/4 from the top of the stem.Any advice will help.
