There are many ways to attach deck lines: soft padeyes, Maroske (tube) fittings, screws with washers, fairleads, recessed fitting, surface mounted fitting and undersized holes. I use soft padeyes because they are low profile and do not dig into your legs when crawling on the deck. And they are easy to make and install and easy to remove to refinish the deck (if you follow Joe Greenley’s installation instructions). See the thread linked below for more discussion.

Epoxy starts so soften around 250 degrees. A dark kayak on a roof rack in the sun can be enough for those bungees to pop off surface glued fittings.
