Hi Tony,
You are getting more experience in recovering salt water damaged tools than I ever want to experience. But that is not going to stop me from putting in my .02 cents worth. So here it goes.
I recovered my VHF from about a 20 minute salt water immersion and immediately took it apart, soaked and flushed it in fresh water. That was followed by immersing it in alcohol to flush the fresh water. Next was drying it out in a warm place for a couple of days. When I replaced the battery and turned it on, it worked. The alcohol mixes with water and evaporates much faster. Your milage may vary.
Hang tough, I am impressed.
Best,
Reg
: I finally got a chance to work on my band saw yesterday.. The motor still had
: water in it! Pretty cruddy inside, but I got it cleaned up and it works!
: The bearings seem a little bit louder than they were, but not much. I can
: put off buying a new motor or saw now. I have managed to save 2 other
: motors, my Craftsman 10" 2 HP table saw and my jet dust collector
: system. All of these were completely under water. The good part about the
: table saw and dust collector is that the motors are open framed and the
: water drained when it went down.
: Hanging in there!!
: Tony
