How long is it? If the stations are 1' apart, that's a pretty big boat (it appears to be ~18.5'long x 22" wide x 14" deep). Unless your friend is really heavy or is planning to use it for expeditions, he may want to consider decreasing the size somewhat. The flat, square hull cross section will make it stable, but slow (due to increased surface area). The high foredeck will preclude using standard Greenland paddling technique. The "D" shaped coaming will make it a bear to get a spray skirt to fit and seal decently.
