Multiple layers are a pain, but if you have the patience, two layers of 3.2 oz. satin will weigh less than a single 6 oz. plain weave layer (because of less resin needed to fill the weave) and be stronger because of the higher glass-to-resin ratio. This is the "Voldemort" layup that's been discussed for some years on this board.
