Strip: Hatch Size & Position

I'm about to cut out for the hatches in my Storm LT with the pattern given in the plans, but I'm just wondering what rear hatch size is considered average if there is such a thing & how far back from the rear edge of the cockpit should it be, I was considering about 250mm (10")
I'd hate to cut it too small 'cause I only get one go at it.
