: The water borne finishes for furniture and flooring are mostly
: "there". They're all I use for film finishes. I'll also be using
: a water borne product to the finish the acoustic guitar I'm currently
: building.

: For kayaks and canoes: Sorry. Unless I'm wrong, the S3 LPU is the ONLY water
: borne product targeted for marine use. That says something in itself.

I'm not exactly sure what that something is that you mention. To me, it means that System 3 are the company that have made it happen.

: Based on the three boats I have done with it and the abrasion test I ran
: comparing it with other finishes, there's no comparison to two-part
: solvent-based urethanes...

Perhaps you could post the results of your test? I'd be interested to see how you tested and what you found. I'm always open to learning about better products and ways of doing things.

: I'm glad you had better luck. To those looking to use the product (heck any
: product) be sure to read and closely follow the instructions included in
: the can. It's even more important with this stuff for some reason.

It's important with WR-LPU to follow instructions closely because of the fast curing time -- there's little wiggle room to go back and correct something once the product begins to set -- and that happens within seconds -- my guess is that this is the cause of most people's grief with it. In the end, it's a bit more preparation and effort to apply and from my experiences it is a good strong, long lasting, durable finish.

I've heard complaint after complaint about System 3 LPU and yet I've not had any problems with it. In fact, I've been extremely pleased with the results that I've gotten. If you have a well prepared surface to begin with, and you've got everything organized ahead of time so that you don't have to stop or slow down mid-stream, you can get very good results with WR-LPU.

I do think that System 3 would do well to put a step by step manual on their website with detailed information for applying the product. Some good instructional references would likely result in people having better experiences with it.
