Pete,
I am also using Photobucket, and using the Direct Link. After finding the image in my Photobucket album, I click once on the Direct Link address under the image. The message "Copied" appears, which means that the image address is copied to the clipboard.

I then delete the letters and symbols "http://" from the Kayak Forum Optional Image URL as it becomes redundant. Next I use "Ctrl+V" (that's the Control key and the capital V as in Victor key) to paste the address to Optional Image URL. You can also use Edit, Paste from the menu bar.

Then I preview the message to make sure the image appears as expected.
