: As I was altering my plans something come to mind. With a Yost style framing
: one of the frames is right under the front of the coming. Looks to me that

it's just like a masik on a traditional skin on frame..no? thats how i approached it and had no trouble. i even glued & dowelled some more bits of ply to the top of that frame so it became close to 2" wide and more comfortable to press against. but i was doing a yost constructed replica of an original g'land kayak.

if in doubt pop back to his site and wander around the coaming section. i believe he comments on free floating and screwwed down coamings in turn.
