I can scarf cedar no problem but the rings seem so wide and it is far lense dense. The Fir rings are tight and have a nice dormant season. These are .75 x 1.75 -.75 x.75, and .75 x 1 pieces. At that size I cannot imagine a ton of difference in weight....but I;m a first timer, that's why I;m here.

I;m thinking the denser Fir will be stronger but maybeyy at the cost of being brittle.
