I've built 5 non-traditional SOF Yost style kayaks (so far!) and have never needed any intermediate supports along the chine. I used WRC stringers. Clearly, other's results may vary.
It sure is rewarding how fast you can put one of these boats together, isn't it? Yours looks good. What are you planning to skin it with?
