The osprey was my first boat too, and still my favorite for just paddling. I beveled the bottom edge of the shear clamp on my hybrid double. I sure would not worry about glassing the inside seam when you have a shear clamp, so that should not be a problem. Just get plenty of thickened epoxy down before placing the deck. (Put some material down in the bottom to catch any drips and figure out a method for smoothing the epoxy at the joint.
