Agree with Bryan. My CLC 16LT was my first build, and my knees can never get close enough to the small inside radius of the hull/deck joint. And no need to tape the inside of a shear joint. Smoothing off the shear clamp is a good idea, though...your hands will touch them more than your knees when you are lifting and transporting the kayak.
