This is my first one but I with Bill on this. The epoxy joint will be stronger than the wood. Glue some up and break it. I will bet the wood fails and not the glue joint.

I do plan on going back and replacing the screws with dowels, but only to seal the holes so I keep the water from getting in and rotting the frame from the inside out. I don't see the dowels as necessary for strength.
