I used bungees to hold everything together while the epoxy set (didn't need any more clamping pressure than that for the redwood I used). I went back and doweled the joints at the gunwales though - if the glue joint fails at least the plywood frames won't move...

Doug fir, pine, etc. would likely need more clamping pressure than bungees can provide.

On my first "Yost" style frame I used screws to hold everything in place, which was probably a bit easier than bungees. I didn't even use a strong back for that one!
