: Hello all,
: While reading the October issue of SK magazine I noticed the hull of Epic
: Endurance 18 kayak has an unusual shape (see link)
: Looking at the hull profile it appears the bulge in the bottom of the boat is
: in an unusual place: approximately 1/3 from the bow instead of the usual
: midship. In other words, the rocker lowest point is not in the center of
: the boat as usual but much further fore.
: You can see it clearly in the line drawings (copied from the magazine for
: clear illustration)
: I have never seen any other kayak shaped like this.
: Since Epic has the reputation for building fastest standard-length sea kayaks
: out there, I wonder if they know something that nobody else does?
I'm not sure that the Epic is the fastest, but is one of the faster boats. It's sorta shaped like a surfski which is one of the fastest paddle boats around. Other than it being swedeform in shape, the maximum draft position is similiar to many greenland boats.
