Re: Strip: filling staple holes and other areas
In Response To: Strip: filling staple holes and other areas (john sullivan)
: I am getting close to glassing my first Great Auk but I have a few areas,
: staple holes which I missed and some seams. I have done most of my sanding
: and I am looking for a suggestion as to what to use for filler which will
: sand easily and is readily accessible. I have used a mixture of Tite Bond
: and saw dust but it is difficult to sand these spots after the mixture
: hardens. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I usually build staple-less, but use a brad now and then in a tight area. for those holes, I wet the wood to swell it back to where it belongs.. doesn't get rid of it completely, but lessens the effect..
