We had a group "Christmas" dinner paddle on Saturday night (28 kayaks), lumpy sea which a few found more than they were used to, fun for those of us used to those conditions. When we landed on the island before the meal one of the paddlers with a CLC double bemoaned that he hadn't taken my advise and lowered the sides when he built it.

Why do USA designs have such high sides?
