Jon,
A few years ago I was in exactly the same situation. Did a lot of searching for info on this board, read a few books, checked out the various options such as buying a good table saw and cutting my own strips or buying a kit that included the strips. I choose the Redfish ~ King and have absolutely no regrets. You can follow the build process at my site and photo #47 shows you the basic "tools" that I used. I did have a band saw that I used to cut the thin accent strips, and I did need to buy clamps, some duct tape and sandpaper and glue. It is not hard at all if you go slow, read and reread the instructions to be sure you fully understand them, and as they say on the This Old House show "measure twice ~ cut once". Joe at Redfish can answer any questions you may have and is easily reachable. The information on this site is invaluable and the builders who frequent this site and make it what it is are always very willing to share their experience, knowledge, and tips if you are not reluctant to ask them a question. Go for it and best regards.
Bob
