I am betting someone has all ready figured this out. If you needed to have a seam in a S&G under water how would seal it? For example if you wanted to put in a drop down skeg on a S&G. How would you seal the skin around the rudder box?

I have been tossing this one around for a while now. My best idea is have some framing around the rudder box. Then skin the boat. Reinforcing that area with a piece of ply over the skin screwed to the frame to clamp the skin with caulking behind it. Then cutting the opening in the skin. All the exposed wood would be coated in epoxy of course.

No I don't have a specific need. Just curious if this is feasible? Or if someone has come up with a way.
