Sam does not parade his considerable qualifications for all to see, but I decided a long time ago that when Sam speaks, I pay very close attention. Sure, I'm not going to get involved with some of the stuff he gets into, but there is a lot to learn that applies to what we do, peripheral opportunities to consider, and a well reasoned approach to decision making supported by testing. His panel testing with Nick a few year ago was very useful. My own testing of composite layup's ability to withstand impact damage was inspired by Sam. Both resulted in conclusions that were at least partly contradictory to conventional group think at the time and affect my layup choices for my boats. If I were to try resin infusion, I sure know where I would go for questions.
