It may be a bad idea, that is why I am asking. It's more idle curiosity right now. But that somehow seems to lead to me trying it down the road.....

What started me thinking was Saturdays paddle. I took my boat up some creeks with a fair current. The fellow I was with had a short boat with more rocker. I was struggling because I just couldn't turn my boat and the current would push me where I didn't want to go. He could fairly easily turn his and do what he wanted.

I have for a long time toyed with the idea of shorter boat with a fair amount of rocker for easy maneuvering in places like this and a drop down skeg for tracking when out in the open water. That's what lead me to this, of course a SOF is probably not a good choice for this boat, but I am still curious if it could be done and how.
