: Don't bother to clean up the underside of the deck around the cockpit opening
: until you get the coaming in place. You'll be cutting and rounding the
: coaming riser anyway, and you might as well only work that once. It's best
: to keep the deck thick in this area rather than sanding it down twice.
: The cyanoacrylate glue is sometimes referred to as "CA" and it's
: just a thicker version of superglue. Best bet is to stop by a full service
: hobby shop and pick some up. There is also a spray "zip kicker"
: that sets the glue just about instantly. Brands are many - the
: manufacturers seem to be willing to private label for every little ma and
: pa shop.
: You can also use hot glue on every third or fourth 2" riser piece with
: Titebond on the rest, using tape to keep things from sliding down. The hot
: glued pieces set up pretty quick and keep the rest of the pieces in
: alignment. You are also not going to stick yourself to the boat like you
: might with the CA.
Thanks again! I'll visit a hobby store tomorrow as it sounds like I need to tackle this cockpit area before I work on anything else.
And while I'm at it, tonite I started cutting the end cloth off the hull and discovered epoxy stuck on the rim where the hull will meet the deck. I put painters tape on this area the best I could but the epoxy stuck to that as well; it is quite time consuming to clean this area up. Is there a wax type product to run over the area to avoid this from occurring when I glass the inside.
