Come on, Charlie, give the guy a break, will ya? He lives in Europe, states that he will hold training exercises on smaller water and... I'll be willing to go out on a limb here... I'll just bet that he has access to far better inside dope on the Donau (Danube) than do you.

Charlie, did you know that there are many operators of river trips on the Danube that take US and Euro tourists down stretches of that water every year? I've been on the Donau all the way to Linz and the current is not something that should be a priority for any paddling party. Barges will give you far more trouble than will the current.

If there's any real big issue with the Donau it's that you should not fall overboard and ingest the water... and not that the current will sweep you away to the Black Sea. Next stop, I suppose, a waterlogged visit to Istanbul.

Yes, I'm exaggerating for purposes of making fun of your statement about Bratislava.
