Hi Pete,
How do you drop your mast in a hurry if it is out of reach?
JohnK
: Hi,
: I've just installed a mast step on my latest project and thought I'd describe
: the process. The technique is simplicity itself.
: 1) Glue in a tube to for the mast step. Here I've used a piece of Aluminum
: from a junk shop but I've seen PVC tube used as well.
: 2) Make a cardboard cone around the mast step.
: 3) Put 3-4 layers of fiberglass cloth around the cone.
: This technique can be used with plastic boats as well although the deck will
: need to be reinforced and as epoxy won't stick to the plastic it will need
: to be bolted through.
: Happy Sailing
: Pete
