Thanks for the response Bill. Yeah I was hoping to use the Thule "J" cradles that I already have. Is there any consensus on what works better with the "J" cradles Thule or Yakama crossbars? I ask this because I know one is round and the other is square. Also, does anyone know if there is an minimum distance required between cradles/crossbars to safely mount a kayak? Unlike the Xterra where the roof rails run the full length of the roof, the Highlander's roof rails only run about 2/3 of the length of the roof (seems to be the new style on several small and mid-sized SUVs).
