Screwed / Glued is fine though I see no flex difference using screws vs the
other methods. Epoxy is the key, not screws or dowels. Lashed / epoxied is my
method of choice for greatest strength. Your results may vary :)

On the other hand, some builders lash only with no epoxy. Your call !
