There's another choice for a skin, but it's experimental, the only ones I know of that use it is me and a few friends. Cover the boat with dacron, light stuff (3 ounce) shrink it (heat shrinks) then recover with 4 ounce fiberglass.

Makes for an amazingly tough and still flexible skin that is easily repaired if it's ever needed (I've yet to be able to damage it).
