Hi John,
I had a 3G modem, called mobile broadband here, and I was under-impressed with it. Unless you are well inside the cell area, the signal drop-off can be extreme. From 3G to GPRS status. Basically broadband at dial-up speeds.
Certain kinds of weather conditions also effect it, regardless of what the supplier claims.

I'm suprised at the cost though, I was paying 25 euro(about $30) a month for mine.

The only advantage with 3G modems is its mobility if you use a laptop and bring it where ever you go.

This is really off topic, has anyone had problems using Google search? Beneath each and every link there is another link stating "This site may harm your computer." and when I use the link to the page I want, it gives a page stating "Warning - visitiing this website may harm your computer!" with 5 links on it as follows; "return to the previous page", Google's "Safe Browsing diagnostic page", a link to "StopBadware.org", "Webmasters Tools" and "Webmaster Help Center".
It effects searches for websites that I regularly use with no ill effects on my computer, like this site. It seems to have happened within a few hours of this time, 31 Jan 2009 1500hrs GMT.
