Hello all,
I am toying with the idea of building a S&G ocean racing ski. I have built a standard ches17, and currently have a half finished one Ocean Cirrus hybrid. both of these now reside in the rafters since I developed a need for speed. I now paddle a Red7 Surf70 ocean ski which I think is awsome but I do miss paddling a timber boat. So, my plan is to build a S&G surf ski using the CLC Pax 20 hull as a platform. My main concern is that the Pax is not long enough. My Red7 is 6.7M long and most competitive skis are around 6.5M. The Pax comes in just shy of 6M.
So my question is; What is the best way to add some length to existing plans
a. Do the math and increase each station distance a wee bit.
b. Keep the distance between bulkheads as per plan and stretch out stations either side.
c. stretch out the stern only.
d. Don't do anything because the Pax 20 length is fine.
Option d is the easiest of course but I am worried that the stern won't be long enough to catch runners. I plan on racing this boat and want it to be competitive as well as good looking.
any thoughts would be helpful.
Cheers, Craig
