Anything that helps get the kayak under you when it is on its side will make rolling easier. A narrow beam, flared sides, low freeboard (low shear and deck) under your layback area, a wide cockpit opening and a low volume hull all help. Most of these are compromises to a good handling open water touring kayak so pick your priorities.
