SOF stuff is addictive. No work so why not build boats? This is the results of a challenge from a buddy of mine to design a boat for the average paddler in our area. He is convinced he can sell a few, so what the heck. I was wanting a shorter boat myself anyway. So if doesn't sell I just paddle it.

It's 15' foot long. 23" beam, very fine entry. Tried to minimize the hull resistance at the 3-4.5 mph range since that is where most people paddle. Settled on the a 14.5' water line after a lot of number crunching. That appears to be the sweet spot for this speed.

Any shorter and it needs to be wider to keep it's stability and resistance goes up. Longer the resistance goes up at our design speeds. The people Randy has in mind are not sprinters. They are day paddles our for a few hours. Leisurely paddle. So I guess this is sort of a Rec. Boat?

It has a bow like the F1 but I swear I didn't copy it. Just has a similar idea before I saw Brian's F1. I designed a stern with a cross between a fan tail and baidarka. I wanted something a bit different. Not just another Greenland styled boat (even though I love the Greenland style. I wanted it to look different but not radical either.

Should be ready for a saran wrap text next weekend I hope. Anxious to paddle it see what I have.
