That would be WAY better than sanding! I would imagine there's a fine line between enough heat to pull the glass & enough heat to scorch the wood.

: If you use a heatgun you can easily remove the glass without sanding(I hate
: sanding!) Properly heated it will come off quite easy and with no damage
