: Hi John,
: The last boat I did in my shop was a mahogany runabout approx. 27' long x 10'
: wide and stood over 11' high on the trailer. Had to replace the bottom as
: well as refinish the whole thing and rebuild the twin Chrysler Hemi's.
: Finding plugs in a black painted bottom was "interesting",
: specially with it being almost 10' wide and 25' long and having 5 tons of
: boat over your head
: Btw, 3500 board ft. of honduras mahogany went into that boat, would be
: impossible today.
Hi Bill,
You do some interesting work. You mention honduras and it brought back a memory of when I was in the Army in the early 50s. A guy from British Honduras wanted me to go in partnership with him to purchase two large fishing boats to be built very cheap, by natives up a river there but the diesel motors were the expensive thing. He located two rebuilt motors in New Orleans and said he was going AWOL. The next day he was gone. I often wondered if his dreams worked out.
John
