I just love your description of paddling a squirt boat, can imagine I'd flail alot too .

Around here most creeks/rivers are moving but mostly flat water. I'm working now on a prototype construction method for a SOF canoe with round bilges. Find that I want a boat that allows much more leg room than my kayaks give me and one that I can step over to shore rather than having to hoist myself up out of the boat first to do that. Lots of gravel bars around here, so I tend to be in and out of the boat often.

The prototyping is fun but somewhat time consuming, have to figure out a solution to each and every step. I find myself reading Nick's book alot
