I will be driving 1300+ kms (Edmonton to Winterpeg) to join Suds (read: Ken Sutherland) and gang for a three day butt-freezing x-c ski journey filled with fun and photography and whatever the Manitoba environment has to offer (read; Guinness). To prep for the journey I built a komitik (Inuit sled or poke as Ken calls it) because I was too damned cheap to buy a tobogan at Canadian tire for $75 CAD. The komatik cost me $25 for materials. I'd say I did the right $$$ thing and being a builder, I couldn't help myself by building. The structure is somewhat flexible and once varnished, should slide easily as I pull it behind me while x-c skiing. All of my gear will be stashed on it. It may not be a kayak project but it IS building, kinda sorta almost.
