Take some sandpaper and soften the lip of the male side. Once it's clean and lubed, it should work. All round tube objects can get out of round the tiniest bit due to temperature fluctuations and stress over time. If it's still stubborn after a total cleaning and lube, you can sand the male side with 600 grit wet and dry paper and it will take off the absolute minimum amount until it works again.
