I originally built this jig for scarfing together 24" wide sheets of Okoume plywood. It worked pretty well, with the challenge being to hold the plywood flat at the tip of the cut. The best solution was to use the jig & router to establish the 1:8 scarf angle, cutting most of the way through the plywood, then finish with a small block plane. I was happy with the results.
I also used the jig & router to make all my scarf cuts for my stripper. I only cut one or two strips at a time, but you could line up a whole row of strips, being careful to use the wedges to snug the strips down. I found it was best to knock the tip of the strip down a little with a block plane to prevent blowout from the router.
The jig is basically a box with a 1:8 slanted top, some stiffeners and guides, and a slot in the top. All the scarf joints on the strips came out perfect, so for me the jig is a keeper.
