I went with the magnet type hatch cover in a build I completed 3 years ago. They work really well at keeping the water out and are flush however, one of the magnets was either not watertight, or it contianed moisture when it was sealed into the hatch lid.

One day I was out paddling and noticed a large bubble had formed in the centre of the forward hatch lid that had caused the fibreglass to craze. On closer inspection I found that one magent had rusted, very quickly and severly, causing the damage.

The magnet was really hard to removed, in the end the only way I could get it out was to drill it out and rare earth magnets are really hard.
