Have just cut out the moulds out for my wife's first kayak (Caspian Sea by John Winters) and am contemplating the strips. Other threads have asked about the advantages/disadvantages of using B&C or spiling a rolling bevel onto each new strip edge, but they seem to quickly go off topic without really providing a definitive answer. I'm planning to rip the strips on my table saw. I can borrow a router and mount it on a bench or table, but would need to buy B&C bits. Noah's has them at $58, which I take to mean would cost me $116 plus shipping. Are they worth it for one - possibly two boats? (I may build a Great Auk for me afterwards.) I've beveled strips on a canoe before, but kayaks seem to have more pronounced curves to the bilges. I don't want invest more than I have to, but don't want to make a mistake at the outset, either.
